I.S. Tartakovsky is the study of the molecular basis of the pathogenicity of facultative intracellular parasites on the model of Legionella and Listeria. He was the first to isolate and characterize a number of biologically active molecules and proteins of these microorganisms, showing their role in interaction with eukaryotic cells and in the pathogenesis of infection. Developed by I.S. Tartakovsky's methodology formed the basis of national and international standards for the diagnosis and prevention of legionellosis. Developed under the guidance of I.S. Tartakovsky methods of laboratory diagnostics of legionellosis and listeriosis, preventive monitoring of legionella and listeria in potentially hazardous environmental objects and food products are being actively introduced into the practice of national health care. I.S. Tartakovsky has published more than 400 publications in domestic and foreign editions, 5 monographs, WHO guidelines, received 10 copyright certificates and patents. Under his leadership, 12 candidate and 3 doctoral dissertations were defended.
